Jemimah Rodrigues also reunited with Nadine de Klerk for Brisbane Heat.
Australia had posted 338 runs in the semi-final against India at DY Patil Stadium, thanks to Phoebe Licthfield. They managed to dismiss Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma for cheap, but Jemimah Rodrigues played an all-time great knock of 127*, as she anchored India to a record chase. She was helped by Harmanpreet Kaur, who made 89 runs.
The result marked Australia’s first World Cup defeat since the 2017 semis. On the other hand, India went on to win the ICC Women’s World Cup, defeating South Africa in the final by 52 runs.
Making her first WBBL appearance of the season, Jemimah’s humour on air had the broadcaster in splits on Sunday.
“I was not sure if Australia would allow me to cross the border to come here after the semi-finals. But honestly, everyone has been so warm and welcoming, and everyone is so happy in general for the growth of women’s cricket. We know that it’s going to change the game massively, not just in India but all over the world,” Jemimah told 7Cricket.

Jemimah is also teammates with South Africa’s Nadine de Klerk, and the two shared a hug for the first time since India defeated South Africa in the World Cup final on November 2.
