Siddhesg Lad made 116 as Mumbai ended day one on 336/5 v J&K.
The incident occurred during Mumbai's match versus Jammu and Kashmir at the Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium in Srinagar. Initially, the official scorecard on the BCCI website wrongly named Sarfaraz Khan as the opening batter, claiming he was removed for a duck by fast bowler Auqib Nabi.
This perplexed spectators, considering Sarfaraz is typically a middle-order batter who is not known to open innings. It was later revealed that Musheer Khan, Sarfaraz's younger brother, started the batting and was bowled on the third ball of the match.
The BCCI subsequently remedied the scorecard issue, but the delay created significant confusion. Sarfaraz later came in to bat in his normal position of No. 5.
Following Musheer's three-ball duck, Ayush Mhatre (28) and Ajinkya Rahane (27) formed a 61-run partnership for the second wicket before Mhatre was removed. Rahane followed soon after. Sarfaraz was eliminated via run out after scoring 42 runs off 48 balls, including six boundaries and one maximum.
Fans on social media were taken aback by the supposed ‘decision’ of the Mumbai Ranji team’s management to send Sarfaraz to open the innings and his dismissal without bothering the scorers.
