Legendary Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh stated that he is excited to see Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s career and advised him to idolize Indian legends like Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Anil Kumble.

Harbhajan Singh, who picked 417 wickets in 103 Tests, 269 ODIs, and 25 wickets in T20Is and also won the 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ICC World Cup, lauded the 15-year-old Sooryavanshi for his extraordinary hitting ability and believes the teenager needs more than talent to fulfill his potential.

Harbhajan lauded the 15-year-old's innate talent while emphasizing how crucial discipline and clear priorities are. He feels that Kohli's method from an early age gives Sooryavanshi a model to emulate as he makes his way through the early phases of his career.

"The way Virat channelized his energy from a young age, Virat should be Sooryavanshi's idol. He should look up to guys like Kohli, Tendulkar, Dravid, and Kumble. They all channeled their energy only into cricket and did not get distracted by other things. Understanding your priorities is important, and for Sooryavanshi to reach the level his talent warrants, he must be clear in his priorities," Harbhajan said on Prakhar Gupta's YouTube channel.

Harbhajan Singh likewise compared Sooryavanshi to Sachin Tendulkar, highlighting the youngster's exceptional hitting ability at such a young age. Yet his praise was accompanied by a caution that potential by itself does not ensure success.

"He's unbelievable and is someone I am excited to watch through his career. If he doesn't justify his talent, then he must have done something wrong. He has what Tendulkar had in his teens. It is still early, but I've not seen such hitting ability at such a young age. The clarity in his vision at this age is unbelievable," Harbhajan added.

Sooryavanshi broke Tendulkar’s record to become the youngest Indian to make his international debut against England recently in T20I cricket. This came after he scored 776 runs in IPL 2026 with one century and five fifties.

After a tough debut against England, Sooryavanshi starred for India when they whitewashed Zimbabwe 3-0, and he won the Player of the Series after scoring two fifties. Yet, despite that form, he did not play in India's three T20Is against Afghanistan, with Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson preferred at the top.
