Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was part of the Indian men's cricket team that won Gold medal in Asian Games.
Sooryavanshi played for the Indian men's cricket team that took home the gold in Tokyo. PM Modi delivered a captivating address during the event that highlighted how 15-year-olds are representing their country with gold at major competitions like the Asian Games. Even Sooryavanshi's face lit up at the comment.
During the felicitation event, PM Modi could not stop praising the Indian athletes, especially the boxers, hockey teams, and cricket players, and praising the historic milestones and records broken at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
PM Modi specifically mentioned the 15- and 17-year-olds who won medals for India at the Games as he went on with his speech. The camera shifted to the Indian cricket prodigy when he mentioned Sooryavanshi, even though he did not specifically address him.
"This time in the Asian Games, there were many players on Team India whose age was only 15 to 17 years. At such a young age, these players have enhanced the pride of the country with their spectacular performances. They have won the hearts of the countrymen. This shows that for success, age is not a restriction. In sports, it is the start made at a young age that becomes an added advantage," he said.
As PM Modi said this, Sooryavanshi had a big smile on his face.

"Therefore, it is our effort that in sports, the identification of talent should happen at a young age. For children between 5 and 15 years of age, we are especially focused on identifying sporting talent and its training. In the coming years, thousands of new players will get opportunities to advance through Khelo India and Emerging Khelo India," PM Modi added.
Sooryavanshi is part of the Indian squad that will play in the fifth and final T20I against West Indies on October 17 in Bengaluru. The squad will then fly to New Zealand for a lengthy tour that will include five T20Is, apart from five ODIs and two Tests.
The New Zealand tour begins on October 22 with the first T20I of the five-game series.
