Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 76 years old on September 17 and received love and wishes from the Indian cricket fraternity. Three years after India gained independence in 1947, Narendra Modi was born in Vadnagar, Gujarat, on September 17, 1950.

He worked in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) full-time from 1971 and moved his way up to the chief minister post of Gujarat, which he held from 2001 to 2014. He then became the Indian Prime Minister in 2014 and has held the post since then as the BJP leader.

He is the first prime minister of India to be born after independence and is the country’s longest-serving non-Congress prime minister. Under his leadership, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance has won three consecutive general elections—in 2014, 2019, and 2024.

Some of his big steps as the PM of the country have been demonetizing high-value currency notes in 2016, the introduction of Goods and Services Tax (GST), the Swachh Bharat Mission, and the Make in India initiative.

The Indian cricket fraternity took to X and praised Narendra Modi’s "tireless dedication" to the country, while wishing him a happy 76th birthday.
