Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka opened up about his conversation with Rishabh Pant. Notably, Pant was traded by LSG to Delhi Capitals (DC) in the trade window for INR 13.50 crores, and LSG got spinner Kuldeep Yadav in return, ahead of IPL 2027.

Rishabh Pant made history when LSG bought him in the IPL 2025 mega auction for INR 27 crores, making him the most expensive player in IPL history. He took over as the team's captain from KL Rahul; however, under his direction, the squad had poor seasons and missed out on the playoffs in both IPL 2025 and 2026.

Sanjiv Goenka recently appeared on a podcast and spoke about his final conversation with Pant before the wicketkeeper-batter rejoined Delhi Capitals.

Our last conversation wasn't just about the trade. We have continued to speak even after that. Good luck to him and best wishes. We plan to have dinner one of these days,” Goenka stated about his conversation with Rishabh Pant after the IPL trade on Shubhankar Mishra's podcast

Rishabh Pant will play for Delhi Capitals (DC) after a two-year gap. He was last seen in action for India in the recent Sri Lanka Test series and scored consecutive half-centuries in two Tests. During the Test series, Pant overtook legendary MS Dhoni to become India's highest run-scorer as a designated wicketkeeper in away or neutral Tests.

Pant has scored 2,534 runs at an impressive average of over 41, narrowly surpassing Dhoni's tally of 2,496 runs. Farokh Engineer (1,209), Syed Kirmani (1,109), and Kiran More (901) complete the top five.
