Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina has praised Rinku Singh’s captaincy as he led the Meerut Mavericks to the UPT20 League title on Sunday (September 6). As the captain of the Meerut Mavericks, Rinku participated in ten games and guided them to nine wins in the 2026 UPT20 League.

Before the IPL 2025 big auction, KKR paid Rs 13 crore to keep the left-handed batter from Aligarh. Rinku, who was a member of India’s 2026 T20 World Cup-winning team, was appointed KKR’s vice-captain ahead of IPL 2026 and played all 14 league matches for the three-time champions.

In a video that UPT20 posted on their social media accounts, Raina discussed Rinku's leadership. He added that KKR already had a future captain in Rinku and pushed the Shah Rukh Khan-owned team to have faith in the Indian batter, who has been playing for KKR in the IPL since 2018.

Kaabil-e-tareef kaptaani Rinku Singh ki. 4th season hai aur 4th final mein khel rahe hain. KKR kaptaani badi dhund rahi hai, lekin mujhe lagta hai ki kaptaan mil gaya hai KKR ko. Thoda nivesh kariye Rinku Singh par, thode se matches dijiye, you never know," Raina said in conversation on UPT20 League

KKR needs a new captain after Ajinkya Rahane announced his retirement from international, domestic, and IPL cricket. Rinku has staked a claim for the leadership spot, but it remains to be seen whether KKR shows faith in his abilities, appoints him captain, or goes for someone else for the top job.
