Deepesh Devendran, the 2025 Youth World Cup winner from the India U19 team, has captivated everyone with his remarkable bowling and speed in the ongoing Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL 2026).
He was seen bowling at impressively high speeds during his team Madurai Panthers’ game against Trichy Grand Cholas on August 5. Devendran returned figures of 1-25 from his four overs in one of the most impressive appearances.
However, the speeds he constantly recorded during his spell—well over 140 kph—were what attracted everyone's attention. His one wicket came off a delivery that was at 143 kph, when he dismissed Jafar Jamal, as the ball raced onto the batter and beat his defense to crash into the middle stump.
He reached 146 kph on the first ball of the 16th over of the innings, which was the last over of his quota. In the same over, he reached 140 kph three more times, rushing the batters with his speed and giving up just two runs. Deepesh, who is six feet tall, plagued the opposing batters with his pace and high bounce.

Earlier this year, the 18-year-old was a prominent member of India's winning U19 World Cup team. He took six wickets in five games, including two against England in the final. He was also the top wicket-taker, taking 14 wickets in five games with an incredible strike rate of 15 and an economy of 11.92.
Deepesh's cricketing journey is deeply rooted in his home. His father, Vasudevan Devendran, represented Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket and was part of the team that won the inaugural Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2007.
