WATCH- India women’s team present retiring duo of Heather Knight and Tammy Beaumont with signed jerseys after Lord’s Test win

India women defeated England by 270 runs in the first-ever Women's Test match at Lord's.

The Indian women’s team led by Harmanpreet Kaur registered a huge 270-run win over England in the first-ever Women’s Test at the iconic Lord’s cricket ground in London.

After being asked to bat first, India posted 285 in the first innings thanks to 83 by Smriti Mandhana and contributions by Harmanpreet Kaur (58) and Deepti Sharma (57). Sophie Ecclestone picked three wickets for England.

England replied with 170 as only Amy Jones managed 52, while captain Nat Sciver-Brunt made 44. For India, Kranti Gaud picked 5/37.

India, in the second innings, posted 341/7d with Yastika Bhatia hitting her maiden Test hundred, making 113 runs, while Smriti Mandhana made 70 and Richa Ghosh made a quick 50*.

Needing 457 runs to win, England was bowled out for 186 runs, thanks to Amy Jones’ 54, while Sneh Rana picked 4/42. India won the Test by a massive 270 runs.

The Test match also proved to be the last international outing for the England duo of Heather Knight and Tammy Beaumont. Beaumont had announced her retirement from the game before the Test match, while Knight did the same during the game.

After the Test ended, the Indian women’s team paid a rich tribute to the duo by presenting them with signed Team India jerseys.

England Cricket shared the video of the presentation with the caption reading: "Wholesome moment as India present Tammy and Heather with a token of their appreciation."

"You know cricket is all about making memories. And we, as the Indian team, just want to leave you with a small memory of your last match for England. Congratulations and all the best for everything," Jemimah said.

Harmanpreet Kaur presented the signed jersey to Tammy Beaumont, while Smriti Mandhana presented to Heather Knight before sharing a warm hug. After the presentation, the players from the two teams gathered for a photo.

Heather Knight retired after scoring 989 runs in 15 Tests with two centuries and a best score of 168*. She also made 4372 runs in 160 ODIs with 3 centuries and 27 fifties at an average of 35.54 and a best score of 109 runs. In 145 T20Is, Knight made 2656 runs with one century and 10 fifties. She also took 56 ODI and 21 T20I wickets.

On the other hand, Tammy Beaumont made 614 runs in 14 Tests, with one century, at an average of 30.70 and a best score of 208. In 140 ODIs, Beaumont made 4738 runs at an average of 40.49, with 12 centuries and 24 fifties, including a best of 168*. In 109 T20Is, Beaumont made 1975 runs with one century and 11 fifties.
