England and India clashed in the fourth T20I of the five-match series on July 9, 2026. England was looking to win the game and take an unassailable 3-0 lead, while India was looking to remain alive in the series with a win. Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bat first in Bristol.

Once again, India's top order failed after getting starts, as Abhishek Sharma (16) and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi (15) got going before their dismissals. Captain Shreyas Iyer came to the rescue with a gritty 80* with 4 fours and five sixes, and Shivam Dube’s 22 that dragged India’s total to 158/7 in 20 overs.

Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue picked two wickets each for England.

In response, Arshdeep Singh took the only England wicket to fall, dismissing Jos Buttler for 8 runs. But after that, Phil Salt and Harry Brook added a 149*-run partnership for the second wicket.

Salt made 59* with 9 fours and 1 six, while Brook starred with 79* with 8 fours and 4 sixes, as England achieved the target in 13.5 overs with 9 wickets in hand. With this win, England took a 3-0 lead in the series, effectively winning the T20I series with one game to go.

This is the first time England has defeated India in a bilateral T20I series of two or more games. Before the ongoing season, India had won 11 of their last 12 bilateral T20I series, while the one in South Africa in December 2023 ended in a 1-1 draw.

The Indian cricket fraternity was stunned to see India being dominated so badly by England and shared their reactions on social media.
