Washington Freedom (WSF) and Texas Super Kings (TSK) played an epic T20 match on June 27 in the ongoing MLC 2026 at the Oakland Coliseum, Oakland. The match, which went to the final over, had everything in it.

TSK captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and chose to bat first. Salteja Mukkamalla (37) and Rilee Rossouw (34) laid a good foundation, and then Wiaan Mulder (43* in 20 balls) and Donovan Ferreira (44* in 20 balls) took TSK's total to 185/4 in 20 overs. Nikhil Chaudhary took two wickets for Washington.

In response, Mitchell Owen led the chase with 77 in 35 balls with 7 fours and 6 sixes, while skipper Steve Smith made 30. However, TSK hit back in the middle overs as WSF lost quick wickets.

WSF needed 6 runs to win in the final over, which was bowled by Akeal Hosein. However, WSF imploded as Hosein dismissed Marco Jansen on the second ball, caught by Abhimanyu Lamba. He then accounted for Amila Aponso the very next ball, caught by Wiaan Mulder.

Things got even tougher for WSF, as Akeal Hosein completed a brilliant hat trick, as some quick glove work by Mukkamalla had Asif Mehmood stumped. Lockie Ferguson then gave a strike to Chaudhary for the very next ball, as WSF needed five runs from the last ball.

Chaudhary had watched everything unfold from the other end and decided to go for a six. He finished the game with the third six of his innings, pulling Hosein flat over the midwicket boundary. Then celebrated by flinging his bat and helmet in the air, and then whistled as well.
