Chahal managed 12 wickets for PBKS in IPL 2026.
Yuzvendra Chahal appeared on Kevin Pietersen’s YouTube channel to showcase his batting abilities, but the ex-England captain had a twist for him. Known more for his bowling acumen, the Haryana spinner has a penchant for batting as well.
Yuzvendra Chahal had to score 100 runs off 50 balls in the challenge, with the ball starting at 51 mph and increasing by 1 mph with each delivery. The surprise, though, was that Pietersen reduced the boundaries to 40 metres to facilitate the spinner.
Chahal got off to a great start, hitting a six off the first ball. He also struck the second ball for a six by stepping out and using his feet to go down the ground. Fortunately, the catch was dropped when the third ball went high in the air. For an additional maximum, the fourth delivery vanished. As the catch was dropped and the ball flew over the fence, he took advantage of his good fortune to score another six off the sixth ball.
Yuzvendra Chahal was caught off the eighth delivery after hitting the seventh ball for a six. His score was reduced to 26 runs as a result. He scored thirty-three runs after ten balls. It took him just 14 balls to reach 50 runs. Pietersen hugged him as he celebrated turning fifty.
He was caught again trying to hit a six over covers on the sixteenth ball, leaving him minus five. With a score of 56, he was caught once more on the twentieth ball. Yuzvendra Chahal reached 90 after 25 balls as he continued to hit sixes.
With a six off the 29th ball, he eventually reached his hundred, surpassing the previous mark held by South African great AB de Villiers. Chahal smashed a total of 17 sixes to complete the challenge with 21 balls to spare.
Chahal was retained by Punjab Kings for INR 18 crores in IPL 2026, and he returned with 12 wickets at an economy rate of 9.39. PBKS, who started well with an unbeaten streak in the first seven matches, lost the plot in the second half and missed qualification for the playoffs by just one point.
Chahal last played an international game for India in 2023 but was part of the 2024 T20 World Cup-winning Indian squad.
