Rajasthan Royals (RR) dominated the Eliminator match of the IPL 2026 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on May 27, 2026. This game was played at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, New Chandigarh, and saw Pat Cummins, SRH captain, winning the toss and choosing to bowl first.

It seems that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was on a mission. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi appeared to be on a mission. Sooryavanshi was hitting sixes and fours on his way to a 16-ball fifty as RR scored 80 runs in the powerplay while Yashasvi Jaiswal (29) struggled to find rhythm in his innings.

Sooryavanshi looked good to surpass Chris Gayle's record for the fastest T20 century when he scored 97 runs in 28 balls, and his aggression was so great that SRH bowlers had no idea where to bowl to him. On the 29th ball, he attempted to break the record with a six but was caught at third man. But Sooryavanshi  broke Chris Gayle's record for the most sixes (59) in an IPL season with his knock containing  12 sixes and 5 fours.

Dhruv Jurel (50), Riyan Parag (26), and some cameos from lower-order batters propelled RR to 243/8 in 20 overs. Praful Hinge took three wickets for SRH

SRH got the worst start with Abhishek Sharma perishing for a duck and Travis Head making 17. Ishan Kishan smashed 33 in 11 balls before his dismissal, and SRH's batting couldn’t deal with the rising required run rate.

Nitish Kumar Reddy (38) and Salil Arora (35) showed some resistance, and Shivang Kumar (27) tried to delay the inevitable.

SRH made 196 runs, and RR won the game by 47 runs, eliminating Pat Cummins and co. Jofra Archer took three wickets, while Nandre Burger, Sushant Mishra, and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each.

With this win, RR qualified for Qualifier 2 and will meet the Gujarat Titans at the same venue on May 29. The winner of this game will move to the final to face RCB on May 31 in Ahmedabad.

The cricket fraternity was all praises on social media for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s performance and the RR team for such an emphatic win.
