The players cheered and applauded when Harmanpreet's name was announced during the Rashtrapati Bhavan Civil Investiture Ceremony. After Harmanpreet earned the honor, Smriti Mandhana, who has a tight relationship with the captain both on and off the field, was obviously moved and video-called her to congratulate her.

The team was seen celebrating together in Chelmsford in a video posted by the BCCI Women's account, with Harmanpreet participating remotely via video connection.

One for all and all for one. Moments to truly cherish as Team India celebrates Captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s prestigious Padma Shri award in Chelmsford,” BCCI captioned the post.

President Droupadi Murmu awarded Harmanpreet the Padma Shri in appreciation of her enormous contribution to Indian cricket.

The award was given months after she guided India to a historic victory in the 2025 ICC Women's ODI World Cup at home, ending the nation's protracted quest for a senior women's world championship.
