Jaffer used a photo from Ramayana serial featuring Hanuman's meeting with Ravana.
He came up with a funny way of warning Sri Lanka during the second T20I against India, after the visitors were forced to field the 11 players who were available after 9 others were ruled out of the remaining two matches of the series after Krunal Pandya tested positive for COVID-19.
The other 8 players were deemed close contacts with him and despite testing negative for the virus cannot play in the remaining matches due to COVID-19 protocols.
This meant that India fielded 5 specialist batsmen including captain Shikhar Dhawan with Bhuvneshwar Kumar at no.6 and Kuldeep Yadav slotted at no.7.
This led to Wasim Jaffer using a photo from the Ramayana serial in which Bhagwan Hanuman uses his tail to form a throne for himself during his meeting with Lanka’s king Ravana.
“Our tail this match. Be scared Lanka, you've been burned before,” Jaffer tweeted.
Meanwhile, on an extremely slow pitch and slow outfield, India managed 132/5 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first by Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka who won the toss. Shikhar Dhawan top-scored with 40, while debutants Devdutt Padikkal (29) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (21) were impressive as well.
The other two debutants for India in this match are Chetan Sakariya and Nitish Rana, who made 9 runs.
