India beat Sri Lanka by 3 wickets to go 2-0 up in the ODI series.
India registered a thrilling three-wicket win in the second ODI to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series courtesy a remarkable unbroken 84-run partnership for the 8th wicket between fast bowlers Deepak Chahar (69*) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (19*).
Chasing 276 to win, India were tottering at 116/5 when Surya Kumar Yadav (53) and Krunal Pandya (35) put on a important partnership before both fell in quick succession to be 193/7 in the 36th over. The bowling all-rounders Chahar and Bhuvneshwar did not give up and eventually took India home in the final over.
Sri Lanka, who won the toss and batted for the second successive time, were left to rue yet another series defeat at home against India who are without several of their first choice players. Sri Lanka have not beaten India in a ODI at home since 2009 and in a bilateral ODI series since 1997.
Meanwhile, the other Team India, currently playing in a three-day warm-up match against Select County XI in Durham, kept a close eye on the thrilling contest in Colombo and cheered on the Shikhar Dhawan-led side.
