It seems Sri Lanka’s woes ahead of the India limited-overs series are not coming to an end. A day after batting coach Grant Flower tested positive for COVID-19 after landing in the country from the UK, the team’s data analyst GT Niroshan has also tested positive for the virus.

These positive cases have forced Sri Lanka (SLC) board to confine the entire contingent that returned from England into isolation in their hotel rooms and conduct periodic PCR tests.

"The Data Analyst of the Sri Lanka National Team, G. T. Niroshan, has tested positive for Covid 19. He was found to be positive, following a PCR Test carried out among the National Players, Coaches, and Support Staff yesterday, following the identification of Grant Flower as Covid Positive. Niroshan is now undergoing due medical protocols,” Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said in a statement.

Sri Lanka is set to take on India in a six-match white-ball series starting July 13. Flower had been isolated from the rest of the squad which is undergoing hard quarantine on arrival.

It is believed that Flower is not believed to have been in close contact with other squad members over the last few days. Provided Flower's test was not a false positive, medical staff believe he likely contracted the disease in England.
