Devdutt Padikkal is currently on Sri Lanka tour for the limited-overs series.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) opener Devdutt Padikkal, who's on the Sri Lanka tour with the Indian cricket team, turned 21 on Wednesday (July 7). The Karnataka batsman shares his birthday with former India captain MS Dhoni.
The official Twitter account of BCCI posted a video featuring the birthday boy Padikkal. He can be seen batting in the nets and timing the ball perfectly ahead of the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka, which begins on July 13 in Colombo.
“30 seconds of the birthday boy timing the ball to perfection in the nets. Happy birthday, devdpd07,” the BCCI captioned the video.
Padikkal has been a part of the RCB since the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. He was RCB's highest run-scorer in IPL 2020 with 473 runs in 15 matches. He played 6 matches in the first half of IPL 2021 and scored 195 runs, which include an unbeaten hundred.
The 21-year-old has an opportunity to showcase his talent on his maiden India call-up. He will be playing under the leadership of Shikhar Dhawan and head coach Rahul Dravid.
