Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer and Hardik Pandya in fray to lead India in Sri Lanka.
Team India will be touring Sri Lanka for 3 ODIs and as many T20Is between July 13 and 25, the broadcasters Sony announced on Monday (June 7).
India is expected to name a second string team for the limited overs tour with Hardik Pandya and Shikhar Dhawan being front-runners to lead the side. Shreyas Iyer could also be in contention should he recover completely from his shoulder surgery.
“Indian waves will crash against the Sri Lankan shore with #JeetneKiZid,” Sony Sports tweeted with the schedule.
The ODIs will take place on July 13, 16 and 18 while the T20Is will be played on July 21, 23 and 25. The venues for the games are not yet confirmed.
Most of India's first choice white-ball players including captain Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma are already in UK for the World Test Championship final and a five-Test series against England in August, which presents the new look team going to Sri Lanka with an opportunity to impress ahead of T20 World Cup.
