Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer, on Monday (January 10), went down memory lane, sharing a throwback video of his Test century in Cape Town, ahead of the third and final Test between South Africa and India to be held at Newlands on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.

Through a throwback video, Jaffer recalled his stunning century against South Africa in the Cape Town Test in 2007 ahead of the series-deciding Test between the two teams at the same venue.

He smashed a stunning knock of 116 off 244 balls in the first innings of the third Test, but couldn’t save Team India from a 5-wicket defeat against South Africa, as the hosts won the three-match Test series by a 2-1 margin in Cape Town on January 6, 2007.

During India's tour of South Africa in 2006–07, India recorded its first-ever victory, winning the opening Test of the three-match Test series by 123 runs on South African soil at Johannesburg.

Sharing a throwback video of his record century, Jaffer wrote on Twitter: “I wish there was a way to know you were in the good old days before you actually left them…Throwback to another decider @ Cape Town. Hoping Team India goes a step better than us.”

Notably, Jaffer became the first Indian opener to hit a century in Test cricket on South African soil. KL Rahul joined him on the elusive list with his ton in the series opener at Centurion last month.
