Virat Kohli is out of the second Test match against South Africa due to an upper back spasm.
India batter Cheteshwar Pujara on Wednesday (January 5) gave an update on Test captain Virat Kohli's fitness. Kohli is missing the second Test against South Africa due to an upper back spasm.
Pujara said that Kohli is getting better and he will soon regain full fitness ahead of the third Test. "Officially I cannot reveal anything more but now he (Kohli) is definitely getting better and I feel that he will be fit very soon," he said during a media interaction.
Ahead of the third day of the ongoing Test match, Kohli was seen receiving throwdowns from head coach Rahul Dravid. It was a positive sign going ahead in the Test series.
The team is led by KL Rahul, and Jasprit Bumrah was named as vice-captain for the second Test. In the playing eleven, Hanuma Vihari has replaced Kohli for the match.
India have posted a target of 240 in the second Test and after the end of Day 3, South Africa need 122 runs more to win with 8 wickets in hand. The visitors are currently 1-0 up in the Test series after winning the first Test in Centurion by 113 runs.
