Virat Kohli has suffered an upper back spasm which ruled him out of the second Test.
India captain Virat Kohli has been rested for the second Test against South Africa at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. He suffered an upper back spasm which ruled him out of the playing XI.
KL Rahul is leading the team as a stand-in captain and Hanuma Vihari replaced Kohli for the second Test. India are currently 1-0 up in the Test series after beating South Africa by 113 runs in Centurion.
Twitterati were surprised to see Rahul coming out for the toss and they later found out the reason from the stand-in captain. "Virat is having an upper back spasm," said Rahul after winning the toss on Monday (January 3).
"Every Indian player dreams to captain his country. Really looking forward to this. We will look to put some runs on the board and put the opposition under pressure. Hanuma Vihari comes in for Virat. No other change," he added.
