The Indian openers KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal posted a 117-run stand for the first wicket. Mayank was dismissed in the 41st over by Ngidi on a score of 60 runs which brought Pujara to the crease.

Ngidi bagged back-to-back wickets after Pujara put his stride forward and tried to defend the first delivery. Unfortunately, the ball took his bat's inside edge and hit on the pads before lobbing up in the air.

Keegan Petersen took an easy catch at forward short leg and Pujara had to walk back without scoring a single run. He was disappointed, but the India head coach Rahul Dravid consoled him in the dressing room.

Dravid gave a pat on Pujara's back which brought a smile to his face. It is going to be a crucial Test series for the India number 3 batter as he is going through a tough phase with the bat this year.
