India's new batting star Karun Nair is suffering from an abdominal strain and underwent a scan on Friday night. Karun, who had recently become only the 2nd Indian batsman to score a triple century in Test cricket, could only manage to score 14 runs in the first innings while he was dismissed cheaply again for 12 in the second innings. He batted at number 8 on Saturday.
While the extent of Karun's injury is unclear, it is a big gamble by Karnataka to play him with the ODI & T20I series just couple of weeks away, and Karun is expected to be in contention for the spot of opener as Rohit Sharma is missing out due to a leg injury.
By risking Karun, the Karnataka team management may have put his spot in jeopardy and caused further headache to Team India who are already battling multiple injuries to it's key players.
