Hooda became the 4th Indian to make T20I ton after Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul.
India made 225/7 in 20 overs with Sanju Samson making 77 and his 176-run partnership for the second wicket with Deepak Hooda, who carried on his good form from the 1st match where he had scored 47* to guide India to a win on June 26.
After Samson fell for 77, Hooda continued hammering the Irish bowlers, completing his century in 55 balls and ultimately finishing on 104 with 9 fours and 6 sixes.
After Ireland gave a huge scare to India by almost chasing the total, making 221/5 in 20 overs, Deepak Hooda was not only named the Player of the Match but also walked away with the Player of the Series award as well.
After the match, Hooda was seen in conversation with Sanju Samson and the video of the same was posted by BCCI on its social media.
“I had goosebumps scoring the hundred and winning at the same time. But I admit I did become a bit nervous but things turned out well,” Hooda said.
Meanwhile, Hooda explained his process during his knock in the post-match presentation and had said: “To be honest, I was coming from a good IPL and wanted to follow the same performance. Happy with my intent. I like playing in that manner (aggressive) and these days I am batting up the order so getting some time. Sanju is my childhood friend, always good to bat with him. Thank you to fans, the way they came and supported us."
