India defeated Ireland by seven wickets in the opening T20I.
Team India’s T20I series against Ireland kick-started on Sunday (26th June). In a rain-affected game, where only 12 overs per side took place, the visitors displayed a clinical performance with both bat and all to clinch the match by 7 wickets and take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Bowling first, after winning the toss, Bhuvneshwar Kumar exhibited excellent swing bowling and troubled the Irish batters. He bowled three overs among which one was maiden and returned with the figures of 1/16.
The likes of skipper Hardik Pandya, Avesh Khan and Yuzvendra Chahal also chipped in and took one wicket each to restrict Ireland to a total of 108 runs. With the bat, Deepak Hooda shined as he scored unbeaten 47 runs to take his side home.

While it was Bhuvneshwar’s swing that impressed many, a glitch in the speedometer stole the limelight as it showed that the Indian pacer clocked 200kph-plus speed on a couple of occasions, leaving Indian fans baffled.
