Virat Kohli will play on Indian soil for the first time after giving up his captaincy duties across all 3 formats. The West Indies tour of India will include 3 ODIs and as many T20Is, where he will get a chance to score some runs.

Former India all-rounder Reetinder Singh Sodhi wants Kohli to get back into his run-making form against the West Indies.

While speaking on India News, Sodhi jested that a lot has gone down with the former skipper in the past few months and it’s important for him to look ahead and dominate the opponents like he used to earlier.

"Until some time back, he was the captain of the Indian cricket team in all 3 formats. Now, he's not the captain in any format, so a lot has transpired in the last few months. Now, the Indian cricket team and the entire nation wants to see Virat Kohli, the champion batter he's always been, back. We have a lot of important tournaments coming up, including the World Cups, and it's important for Virat to contribute. We want to see Virat Kohli at the peak of his form.

"A champion player always competes with himself and never runs after records. If he decides to shatter his own records, then imagine what will happen to the opposition," explained Sodhi.

Kohli last featured in the 3-match ODI series against South Africa. Despite the poor performance from the “Men in Blue”, Kohli managed to score 2 half-centuries and finished the series as the fifth highest run getter. India lost the series 0-3.

Still, some of his fans and experts were disappointed from his performance. The right-hander has become a prisoner of his own greatness. The West Indies tour of India will kickstart from February 6, with the first ODI to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
