The Indian cricket fraternity couldn’t help themselves from praising the mercurial Indian keeper-batter Rishabh Pant as he smashed a fifty in just 28 balls in the second innings of the ongoing second Test against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru on March 13, 2022.

India was handed a huge lead of 143 runs after Sri Lanka was bundled out 109 runs as Jasprit Bumrah picked 5/24, his first fifer in India.

In reply, Indian batters started off cautiously, Mayank Agarwal fell for 22. Rohit Sharma looked good for his 46 and got out trying to reach his half-century. Hanuma Vihari made a good-looking 35, while Virat Kohli got dismissed in a replay of how he got out in the first innings, LBW to a ball that kept low while playing back to it.

IND v SL 2022: They played like a Ranji team- Aakash Chopra unhappy with Sri Lanka’s ‘terrible’ performance

Rishabh Pant entered the M Chinnaswamy Stadium and started flaying the Sri Lankan spinners and fast bowlers alike to all parts of the stadium. He raced off to a fifty of just 28 balls, the fastest by an Indian in Test cricket, going past Kapil Dev’s record of 30 balls.

He immediately got out after reaching his half-century, but his knock was applauded by everyone as India finished the second session on 199/5 with a lead of 342 runs.

The cricket fraternity from India took to Twitter and lauded Rishabh Pant and we have some of the best from those.
