IND v SL 2022: Cricket fraternity applauds Jasprit Bumrah wholeheartedly as his 5/24 keeps Sri Lanka to 109

Bumrah picked his 8th five-wicket haul in Tests and first in India.

Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah was in the limelight in the ongoing second Test against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru, which is a day-night affair as he picked a five-wicket haul to help India gain a lead of 143 runs after Sri Lanka was bowled out for 109 runs in their first innings.

Resuming their innings from 86/6, Sri Lanka didn’t offer much resistance on day two of the first Test, as Jasprit Bumrah and R Ashwin ran through the remainder of wickets, with the pacer removing Niroshan Dickwella for 21 and Lasith Embuldeniya for 1, while Ashwin accounted for Suranga Lakmal and Vishwa Fernando, as Sri Lanka was bowled out for 109 runs.

India got a lead of 143 runs with Jasprit Bumrah taking 5/24, his 8th five-wicket haul in his Test career, and first in India. R Ashwin with 2/30 and Mohammad Shami with 2/18 were the other main wicket-takers for India and Akshar Patel chipped in with one scalp as well.

Jasprit Bumrah now has 120 wickets in Tests thus far in his 29th Test match and he still has an innings left to do more damage to the Sri Lankan side.

His efforts on a Bengaluru pitch which is aiding spin a lot were lauded by the cricket fraternity on social media. They were amazed by his ability to command the pink ball at will and get movement both off the pitch and in the air.
