Veteran India batter Virat Kohli on Sunday (6th March) reflected on his career after playing 100 Tests. He expressed his gratitude towards his family, teammates, coaches and BCCI for making his journey beautiful.

Kohli became the 12th Indian player to represent the country in 100 Test matches. The former skipper achieved the feat in the just-concluded first Test against Sri Lanka in Mohali.

Although he failed to score big, his 100th match was memorable as Team India thumped Sri Lanka by an innings and 222 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series. The right-hander scored 45 runs but looked a class apart in his 76-ball stay at the crease. He also completed the landmark of 8000 Test runs in the match.

Ahead of the match, Kohli was presented with a memento by head coach Rahul Dravid and then received the guard of honour from his teammates when the hosts walked out to field in their first innings.

Taking to his official Twitter account, Virat Kohli said that his journey has been full of ups and downs and learnings. He thanked his family, teammates, coaches and BCCI for making his journey ‘beautiful’.

“Thank you to all my family, teammates, coaches and BCCI. You have made this journey beautiful. Onwards and upwards. Been a long journey to get here. Full of ups and downs and learnings. Would not have had it any other way. Thank you for all your support," Kohli’s message read.

Virat Kohli has been a prolific run-getter in the longest format of the game. The 33-year-old has scored 8007 runs at a staggering average of 50.36 to go with 27 hundreds and 28 half-centuries.
