Team India opener Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the ongoing T20I series against Sri Lanka with a wrist injury. Mayank Agarwal has been called up as a replacement to Dharamsala, where the last two T20Is will be played over the weekend, as per a Cricbuzz report.

India won the first T20I by 62 runs in Lucknow and extended their winning streak to 10 in the shortest format. Deepak Hooda made his T20I debut with Gaikwad unavailable for selection.

The BCCI had put out a statement on Gaikwad before the first game in Lucknow, as he was supposed to play before being ruled out because of pain in his right wrist. "Ruturaj Gaikwad complained of pain in his right wrist, which is affecting his batting. He was unavailable for selection for the first T20I. The BCCI Medical Team is examining him," said the release.

As per a Cricbuzz source, Agarwal, who was quarantining in Chandigarh along with the Test specialists was rushed to Dharamsala on Friday (February 25). "It was not difficult to send Agarwal in because it could easily a bubble-to-bubble transfer. He was in Chandigarh and he was immediately rushed," the source said.

Gaikwad is the third Indian team member to be ruled out of the series due to injury, after Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Chahar. India were left with no batters in reserve after the injuries to Suryakumar and Gaikwad, hence, it was necessary for Agarwal to be included in the squad.

India's revised T20I squad: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shreyas Iyer, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Hooda, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Harshal Patel, Jasprit Bumrah (vice-captain), Avesh Khan, Mayank Agarwal.
