India defeated South Africa in the second ODI of the three-match series in Ranchi on Sunday and local boy Ishan Kishan was one of the main reasons for the Men in Blue’s victory.

Chasing a stiff 279 runs to win, India lost openers Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill relatively early, but then local star Ishan Kishan and vice-captain Shreyas Iyer added 161 runs for the third wicket to put India in the driver’s seat, before Iyer and Sanju Samson put the finishing touches to a 7-wicket win.

While Shreyas Iyer scored his second ODI ton and remained unbeaten on 113 with 15 fours, the most fireworks came from the bat of Ishan Kishan, who started off slowly but then slammed 4 fours and 7 sixes in his 84-ball 93 knock and was dejected not to get a maiden ODI century after he was caught by Hendricks off Fortuin.

After the match got over, Shubman Gill took to Instagram to congratulate Ishan Kishan. He posted a short video in which he holds the face of Ishan Kishan, just like Hrithik Roshan's character Vedha does to his brother in the movie Vikram Vedha.

IND v SA 2022: “That partnership was great to watch,” Dhawan hails Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan’s exploits in 2nd ODI

"Well played my Shatak #vikramvedha," Shubman Gill captioned the video.

To this, ‘Vedha’ Hrithik Roshan reacted- “Hahaha”. And Gill’s India teammate Avesh Khan said that Kishan was ardh-shatak (half-century) as he couldn’t make a ton.
