Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing three-match T20I series against South Africa with a stress fracture to the back, and the star speedster has been replaced by Mohammed Siraj in the India squad for the remaining two T20Is of the home series.

However, Bumrah is also highly likely to be ruled out of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022, starting on October 16 in Australia due to the latest injury issue. However, BCCI hasn’t yet made any official statement about the same.

But Cricbuzz claimed that Team India and BCCI are all set to announce Bumrah’s replacement for T20 World Cup 2022 soon.

Following the development, former Indian batter and cricket pundit Wasim Jaffer claimed that the stress fracture would have been there, but India rushed Bumraj back into playing XI against Australia.

Wasim Jaffer was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo: “The stress fracture might have been there already; not to that extent, but it probably got worse after him playing a couple of games under that pressure. They kind of jumped the gun too early or made him play those games a little early.”

He added, “I just feel that probably in hindsight, I would say whether they have rushed him into playing against Australia if at all I can say that. He might have taken a bit more time and probably got ready for the World Cup. I don't know the seriousness of the injury but that's what I feel, whether they kind of pushed him too early to play and then obviously, it reoccurred.”

Bumrah had a forgetful outing in the Australia series following his return to international cricket. He took 1 wicket in the second T20I against Australia and in the series decided, went for 50 runs in his 4 overs.
