Rohit was urged by Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav to go for DRS, while Pant had discouraged him.
South Africa managed to put on 106/8 despite being 9/5 in the first three overs thanks to 41 from Keshav Maharaj and important contributions from Wayne Parnell and Aiden Markram with the bat.
In reply, Proteas got the perfect start as well, as Rohit Sharma fell for a duck and Virat Kohli made only 3 runs. But then an unbeaten 93-run partnership between KL Rahul (51*) and Suryakumar Yadav (50*) took India past the finishing line.
Aiden Markram was the first to show some skill on the difficult pitch as he made 25 runs, however, he could have gone for much less, as the Indian team took a DRS review for a caught behind. Arshdeep Singh, who was bowling his third consecutive over after taking three wickets in his first, managed to beat Markram's outside edge off the third ball.
Both he and wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant made expressions that said that they knew it is close but not out. However, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav had a talk with captain Rohit Sharma, seemingly telling him that they had heard a nick and Rohit went for the DRS.
The replays on the big screen revealed that there was a noticeable gap between the bat and the ball, while the snicko confirmed the same suspicions. This led to Rohit Sharma giving a smile at the error along with Rishabh Pant.
Similarly, Virat Kohli looked at Rohit Sharma and ended up smiling himself.
