Latif was impressed with India's young players' performance against South Africa.
Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif heaped praise on India’s batting performance in the ongoing five-match T20I series against South Africa at home. He was really impressed with Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, and Hardik Pandya’s batting against South Africa.
Team India posted 211, 148, and 179 runs so far in the three matches, though, they managed to win the only third T20I against South Africa, but the former Pakistan captain was really impressed with the way the young batters are taking responsibility and scoring runs in the absence of their senior players.

He felt that India isn’t solely dependent on the top players like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli, like the Pakistan team, which seems to be dependent on Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Imam Ul Haq, and Mohammad Rizwan to do the scoring.
He added that India wants to take their team to a very high level.
Rashid Latif said on his official YouTube channel: “They're building a team. They want to take their team to a very high level. All these matches are like hurdles. They want to bring some change to their cricket. They don't want to rely on Virat, Rohit, and KL Rahul, like how we keep on relying on our players.”
He added, “The way Gaikwad plays, the way Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant play, and the way Hardik Pandya plays, these are players who can change the game on their own. Shreyas Iyer, too, takes on the wrist spinners really well. They want to go one level higher than the previous generation. They want to take the average strike-rate up to 140 from 130.”
