Rahul was ruled out of the T20I series against South Africa.
Indian batter KL Rahul on Friday (10th June) started his injury rehabilitation and posted a motivational video on his Instagram account.
Rahul was supposed to lead India in the ongoing T20I series against South Africa. But ahead of the first game, the hosts had a a major setback as the Karnataka batter suffered a groin injury and was ruled out of the entire series.
The T20I series would’ve made Rahul only the sixth captain to lead India in all three formats of the game. Having led the team already in South Africa in Test and ODIs, it was an opportunity for him to captain the national side in T20Is as well.

His injury meant that he along with Kuldeep Yadav, who also was ruled out of the series due to hand injury, have to report to the NCA, where the medical team will assess them further and decide on the future course of treatment.
Rahul wasted no time and started his recovery process. He posted a video on his Instagram account in which he can be seen doing regular exercises. He captioned the video: Setbacks < comebacks.'

In Rahul's absence, Rishabh Pant was named the skipper of the side with Hardik Pandya being his deputy. However, it wasn’t a fruitful start to keeper-batter’s captaincy career at the international stage. Even after posting a mammoth total of 211 runs on the board, India failed to defend the target and suffered a 7-wicket loss.
The second T20I between India and South Africa is slated to take place on the 12th of June in Cuttack.
