IND v SA 2022: WATCH- Rishabh Pant collides with Rabada and Stubbs; barely makes it back inside crease

Indian captain Rishabh Pant found himself in a bit of worry after he tried to make his ground as his attempt for a quick run was hampered after he collided with a couple of South Africans on his way back to the safety of the crease in the first T20I against South Africa on June 9 in Delhi.

South Africa captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and chose to bowl first. India is being captained by Rishabh Pant in this five-match T20I series after stand-in captain KL Rahul, who was supposed to lead in absence of Rohit Sharma, was ruled out of the series with a groin injury.

For the Proteas, Aiden Markram missed out after testing positive for COVID-19, and in his place, Tristan Stubbs made his T20I debut. For India, Dinesh Karthik and Hardik Pandya made their comebacks into the XI.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Ishan Kishan opened the innings for India and added 57 runs with Gaikwad making 23 with 3 sixes. Ishan, on the other hand, hammered the South African bowlers to all parts of the Delhi stadium as he smoked 11 fours and 3 sixes in his 48-ball knock, in which he made 76 runs.

Rishabh Pant, on his captaincy debut, almost lost his wicket without scoring a run.

On the first ball of the 14th over, Shreyas Iyer tapped the ball to the on side and Pant wanted a quick single and hared down the wicket. However, he collided with bowler Kagiso Rabada, who was going for the ball.

Tristan Stubbs got to the ball from midwicket and Pant then collided with him as Stubbs lobbed the ball over the fielder at the non-striker's end. Meanwhile, Pant was on the ground inside the crease after much effort.
