IND v SA 2022: 'The whole world is excited, not just India'- Irfan on Umran Malik donning India colors

Former all-rounder Irfan Pathan is excited to see Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh in India team jerseys in the upcoming five-match T20I series against South Africa, starting on Thursday, June 9.

Umran and Arshdeep were included in Team India following their brilliant performances in the IPL 2022, where the Jammu and Kashmir speedster constantly bowled at speeds of over 150kph. Arshdeep was impressed with his economy and ability to bowl brilliantly in the death.

Irfan Pathan is confident that Rahul Dravid-led Indian team management will back the inexperienced duo and he is excited to see how they perform at the international are making headlines with their performances in the IPL 2022.

The young pacer is likely to make his Indian debut in the first T20I against South Africa on Thursday, and Pathan said that the "whole world" will be excited to see him donning the Indian colors.

Irfan Pathan said in Star Sports' Follow The Blues: “Umran Malik – Wow – you know, he's bowled consistently at 150km. I'm really impressed with him. The whole world is excited, not just India because there aren't many who can bowl consistently 150km in the world.”

He added, “In that way, he has got potential. Obviously, he is inexperienced as far as his first-class cricket is concerned. But I think this team management, Rahul Dravid, and all the coaches will back him.”

The former all-rounder is impressed with Arshdeep’s consistency in death overs and mentioned that his presence in the playing Xi would be really helpful for the hosts.

Pathan signed off by saying, “Absolutely thrilled to see these two guys getting the India call-up. Arshdeep Singh has been bowling well for a long time now. A left-arm bowler does give you a different angle, but the way he has bowled in the death is what has impressed me the most.”
