Mitchell McClenaghan posted a tweet after India defeated New Zealand by 1-0.
India crushed New Zealand on Monday (December 6) in the second Test by a massive 372-run margin to register their 14th consecutive Test series win at home. They also left New Zealand behind to take away the number 1 position on the ICC Test Team Rankings.
It was India opener Mayank Agarwal who was outstanding with the bat (150 and 62) and got the Player of the Match award, while off-spinner Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers (4/8 and 4/34) for the hosts. Ashwin won the Player of the Series for bagging 14 wickets in the two-Test series.
After India's 1-0 series win, New Zealand's out-of-favor pacer Mitchell McClenaghan posted a tweet that irked the Indian fans. McClenaghan wrote that he is looking forward to witnessing India beating the Blackcaps, who are the current ICC World Test Champions, on a tour to New Zealand.
"Excited for India to beat the @ICC world test champions at home in their own conditions. Congrats," The Kiwi tweeted after India registered their biggest Test win in terms of runs.
The tweet received backlash from the Indian cricket fans who reminded McClenaghan of India's recent performances in Australia and England.
