Krishna has been named in India squad for the Test series against New Zealand.
India’s wily pacer Prasidh Krishna said he is really grateful for the opportunity after he was named in India’s squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against New Zealand later this month at home.
The 25-year-old made his ODI debut against England earlier this year and picked up four wickets in India’s 66-run victory and has been a standby player since the ICC World Test Championship final.
Now, the pacer is excited to rub shoulders with the greats and learn from them in the upcoming Test series against New Zealand, starting on November 25 in Kanpur with the final Test on December 3 in Mumbai. The two teams will also play three T20Is on November 17, 19, and 21.
Krishna told Times of India, “I’m very grateful for the opportunity because it gives me another chance to rub shoulders with the greats, learn from them and add to my skill set.”
He also claimed that being with the Indian cricket team in England has helped him evolve into a better player and set a vision for his future as a cricketer.
The pacer said, “The tour helped me a lot because bowling in England required different work ethics and it was a good platform to learn. I believe that tour gave me a lot of confidence and also helped me evaluate at what level I was and set the vision for how I want my career to pan out in the future.”
The Karnataka bowler added, “It helped me polish my skills and work on my consistency. To play at that level, we require an X factor and I worked on it. It also taught me how to handle pressure.”
Krishna is also looking forward to the crucial learning curve under the new India head coach Rahul Dravid after having interacted “extensively with him during his time with the India ‘A’ squad and at the National Cricket academy” (NCA) in Bengaluru.
He signed off by saying, “Rahul sir is somebody who is always calm and pressure never shows on him. These are among the many aspects of the game we get to learn from him. So, I’m looking forward to this crucial learning curve in my career.”
