India and Australia are clashing in the second match of the five-T20I series on November 26, 2023, in Thiruvananthapuram. India is leading the series 1-0, with a brilliant win in Vizag a couple of days ago.

Matthew Wade won the toss and chose to bowl first. Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa came into the Australia XI for Aaron Hardie and Jason Behrendorff respectively. India came into the match with the same XI.

India’s innings saw the top three batters scoring fifties. Yashasvi Jaiswal set the pace with 53 in 25 balls with 9 fours and 2 sixes, including a 24-run over off Sean Abbott. Then Ishan Kishan hammered 52 in 32 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes. Vice-captain Ruturaj Gaikwad made 58 with 3 fours and 2 sixes, as he anchored one end.

Captain Suryakumar Yadav made 19 in 10 balls, but the star of the Indian innings proved to be Rinku Singh once again. The left-hander hammered 31* in 9 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes as India posted an imposing 235/4 in 50 overs. Nathan Ellis for Australia took 3/45.

Australian openers Steve Smith and Matthew Short, both made 19 runs, but India gained a huge advantage as they got rid of last match’s centurion Josh Inglis early.

Ravi Bishnoi, in the 5th over, gave the ball a bit more air and Inglis went down on one knee to play the slog sweep. However, the shot was miscued and the ball flew over mid-on. Tilak Varma backpedaled while keeping his eyes on the ball and caught the ball easily, finishing it with a tumble.

While the umpires took a second look at the catch, replays showed that Varma’s catch was clean and Inglis had to walk back for 2 runs this time.
