Gaikwad was run out for a diamond duck after mixup with Jaiswal.
Australia played amazingly well as Steve Smith made 52 in 41 balls with 8 fours and added 130 runs for the second wicket with Josh Inglis. Inglis, fresh off the World Cup win, smashed his maiden international and T20I hundred, scoring 110 in 50 balls with 11 fours and 8 sixes. This helped Australia post 208/3 in 20 overs.
Prasidh Krishna and Ravi Bishnoi were the wicket-takers for India.
In response, Yashasvi Jaiswal started off well, but in the first over itself, India suffered a causality. On the 5th ball of the opening over, Jaiswal pulled a short ball towards on side. Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad ran the first run hard, but there was no second there. Still, Jaiswal called Gaikwad and they went for it.
But at the point of no return, Jaiswal realized there was no second run and tried sending Gaikwad back. But it was too late as the throw from deep was collected by Matthew Wade and he dislodged the stumps.

Gaikwad could only stare in disbelief at Jaiswal as he was out for a diamond duck. After the dismissal, Stoinis laughed hysterically in front of Jaiswal as Gaikwad took the long walk back towards the pavilion without facing a ball.
