Australia pace spearhead Pat Cummins called the Singapore-born Tim David an ‘X-factor’ and said that he is excited to see him making his debut for the Kangaroos in the upcoming T20I series against India which begins in Mohali on September 20th.

Singapore-born Tim David has been named in Australia's squad for the T20 World Cup 2022 and he is known for his ability to hit huge sixes and change the course of the game on his own with the bat. The cricketer burst into the spotlight in the Pakistan Super League last season and has become hot property as a hard-hitting finisher in global leagues.

It’s great to see Tim David get his chance. He’s been right up there with the best in the world. Batting in the middle order of T20 cricket is a really tough spot. You see most of the runscorers opening, or batting top of the order. It’s really hard to be consistent coming in when there’s spin bowlers or at the end of the innings. I think he’s been fantastic.

If he gets his chance, hopefully he can continue doing what he’s been doing in the domestic leagues around the world. I think he’s an X-factor. He just goes about it slightly differently so look forward to it,” Cummins told reporters on a video conference on Sunday.

Australia will also play against West Indies and England at home to prepare for the T20 World Cup in which they will defend their T20 title.

Cummins also talked about the form of captain Aaron Finch, who recently retired from ODI cricket after having scored just 31 runs in his last eight ODI innings against New Zealand, Zimbabwe, and Sri Lanka.

Just the normal Aaron Finch. He’s been great. I had a bit of a chat with him. He said he’s in a really good space. Even in the ODIs, he knew it was time in his own mind. So he seems fantastic again. It was only 12 months ago that he led us to a T20 World Cup victory. So he’s really raring to go and he’ll be a key player as he always is,” Cummins added.

Cummins also talked about Virat Kohli and his return to form, saying though he didn't watched the Asia Cup much, he knew the former India skipper scored a century.

He said: “To be totally honest, I didn’t see any of that tournament (Asia Cup). I think Sri Lanka won? Honestly, I didn’t see any of it. I saw Virat Kohli, I think he scored a hundred, yeah he’s a class player, he was always going to return to form at some point in time. He’s going to be a challenge this next week.”
