These five players are the future of Indian cricket and must be invested in.
However, after the result, post mortem will be done of the performance of the players and one thing is for sure, with the next World Cup slated to be played in India in 2023, the focus needs to be shifted to younger players who will be taking the Indian cricket forward. The likes of Dinesh Karthik and Kedar Jadhav are unlikely to appear in the next ICC event in India and its time to move forward with a new-look team.
Keeping that in mind, Team COC has come up with five players that should be on the radar of the selectors right from the upcoming tour to West Indies.
Here are the 5 players that Team India should invest in going forward
MAYANK AGARWAL
With 12 centuries in 75 List A matches and the highest score of 176, Agarwal has shown his streak of aggressive cricket in IPL as well. With KL Rahul’s performance in the World Cup not instilling any confidence; Mayank should be given a chance as the backup opener and probably be given opportunities in playing XI.
SHREYAS IYER
His mix of aggression and tight technique makes him an ideal batsman in the middle order for the team in all the formats. He is a right bid for a future captaincy contender in coming times.
NAVDEEP SAINI
KHALEEL AHMED
Khaleel Ahmed would call himself unlucky not to be picked for the ICC World Cup 2019, as he was very close to making it in, but the selection committee went in with an extra spinner in Ravindra Jadeja. The left-arm pacer has impressed one and all with his ability to bowl quick on even the deadest of the pitches and can swing the ball at such high pace.
He also provides variety to the Indian pace attack, who are majority right-handers. With selectors looking to give rest to frontline pacers after a hectic cricketing schedule, Khaleel should find himself in contention soon.
SHUBMAN GILL
But from now on, more than a couple of spots will open in the Indian team and Gill is definitely a favorite to fill one of those spots, given his natural talent and ability to utilize that talent to its full potential.
