Jhulan Goswami, Shikha Pandey and Smriti Mandhana power India to 7-wicket win over England in 2nd WODI

Mithali Raj also scored 47* to finish the chase successfully.

India Women defeated England Women by 7 wickets to go 2-0 up in the 3-match WODI series under the ICC Women’s Championship on Monday (Feb 25) in Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Heather Knight decided to bat first after winning the toss, but Indian opening quick bowlers Shikha Pandey and Jhulan Goswami rattled the England top order. Only three batswomen reached double figures in the whole England innings with Tammy Beaumont making 20 and Lauren Winfield making 28. Natalie Sciver held one end of the innings with a special knock of 85 in 109 balls with 12 fours and one six. Her innings helped ODI World Champions register 161 in 43.2 overs.

For India, veteran Jhulan Goswami picked 4/30 and Shikhar Pandey picked 4/18 in her 10 overs. Poonam Yadav picked the remaining two wickets to fall in a brilliant bowling performance from the team.

In the chase, Jemimah Rodrigues was dismissed for a duck, but Smriti Mandhana (63), Punam Raut (32) and captain Mithali Raj (47*) helped India chase down the target easily in 41.1 overs to spare. India won the match by seven wickets and went 2-0 up in the series.
