Shivam Dube dropped Harry Brook's simple catch, who then made 95* and took England past 250.
Kris Srikkanth, former India cricketer, slammed India all-rounder Shivam Dube after his poor showing in the recent T20I series between England and India. Dube was particularly disappointing in the final T20I in Southampton.
Dube misread and missed a straightforward catch of opposition captain Harry Brook when he was on 3 runs. Brook made the most of the reprieve by smashing the Indian bowling for a 45-ball 95*, propelling England’s total to 257/3 in 20 overs. Dube also gave up 22 runs in his one over with the ball. Then he struggled with the bat, scoring 14 runs in 10 balls as India succumbed to a 56-run defeat.
"It is impossible to do anything with Shivam Dube on the field. He is running circles around the ball. How can you ever win a match with his fielding? He keeps leaving goals, be it in the IPL or in international cricket. It's a joke that he is an international cricketer and an all-rounder.
Prince Yadav's analysis got ruined only because of Dube's drop. Not only does he drop the catch, but he also falls to the ground along with the ball. Things could have been different for Prince and India if Dube had just taken that catch. The joke is that Dube is the replacement for Nitish Kumar Reddy in the ODI side. What great thing has Dube done to keep getting picked everywhere? He is guaranteed only to always drop a catch and give away 30 runs. Are you picking him for that?” Srikkanth stated on his YouTube channel.
Dube made 85 runs in 5 games with a strike rate of 130.76 and a best score of 42* and picked two wickets at an economy of 15.66.
After a poor performance in the final T20I against England, veteran spin-bowling all-rounder Axar Patel was also harshly criticized by Kris Srikkanth. Axar barely managed a four-ball three with the bat and gave up an unbelievable 63 runs in his four overs without taking a wicket.
"Axar Patel is clearly finished as a bowler. He can only bowl in India with his flat and straight bowling. He is getting smashed from every match to every corner of the ground. Krunal Pandya should play in his position. He at least will bowl a bouncer and try other variations. He has bowled well on the flat tracks in Bengaluru," said Srikkanth.
"Axar has been given enough chances and should be dropped now. It is very unfair to Krunal Pandya. Everyone has seen Axar has no turn and will only bowl flat. Barring the rare match, Axar has been getting smashed at will. He doesn't score runs with the bat and gets smashed repeatedly with the ball,” he added.
He made just 19 runs in 5 matches and picked 2 wickets after bowling 14 overs in the series against England.
