Shivam Dube has made 71 runs in ongoing T20I series against England.
Former India cricketer Kris Srikkanth has made a scathing attack on India all-rounder Shivam Dube after the Men in Blue suffered their third loss in the ongoing five-match T20I series to England. They lost to England by 9 wickets in Bristol, and the hosts took an unassailable 0-3 lead in the series.
Dube managed a 23-ball 22 in India's paltry total of 158/7 in 20 overs, which was buoyed by Shreyas Iyer’s 80*. However, unbeaten fifties by Phil Salt and captain Harry Brook led England to victory in 13.5 overs only, with 9 wickets in hand.
Shivam Dube has looked out of sorts on tricky pitches in England, scoring 71 runs with an economy of 129.09 and a highest score of 42*. As a result, India has failed to gain momentum in the middle and at the end of their innings in the series.
Srikkanth slammed Dube’s batting in the ongoing T20I series and stated that he looked scared on England pitches.
"Dube just looks scared on these pitches. He bats almost like he's begging to leave the crease and go back to the pavilion. You can clearly see the fear in his face. He is another one struggling big time and just hits one six and gets out. Dube's was just another scratchy knock,” Srikkanth said on YouTube.
Shivam Dube has scored 1107 runs in 70 T20Is for India, at a strike rate of 152.06 with 6 fifties and a best score of 66. He has also taken 34 wickets at an economy of 9.67 with best bowling figures of 3 for 4.
Team India should replace Shivam Dube with a dependable middle-order batsman like KL Rahul, according to Kris Srikkanth. Given Dube's inconsistent results, the former captain disregarded his part-time bowling contributions.
"I'll drop Dube for sure and have Rahul in the middle order. His bowling is also ordinary; that one over he bowls. The batters are smashing his bowling. He occasionally bowls well against weaker sides. But you can't consider him a main bowler. He doesn't even bowl much in the IPL," said Srikkanth.
India and England will play the fifth and final T20I game in Southampton on July 11, 2026.
