The third T20I between England and India will be played in Nottingham on July 7.
England and India clashed in the second T20i of the five-match series at Old Trafford in Manchester on July 4, 2026. The first T20I between the two sides was abandoned due to rain, despite India posting 189/7 in their innings.
Shreyas Iyer won the toss in the second T20I, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made his much-awaited India debut. He played his first T20I for India at the age of 15 years and 99 days, breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s 36-year-old record for the youngest Indian to debut in international cricket.
However, Sooryavanshi perished for 14 runs in his debut T20I after hitting two sixes. Abhishek Sharma (43), Ishan Kishan (49), Shreyas Iyer (37), and Tilak Varma (24*) powered India to 190/7 in 20 overs. Sam Curran starred with the ball for England, taking 3/33 in his 4 overs.
Arshdeep Singh gave India a dream start, removing Phil Salt and Jos Buttler for ducks in the first over of England’s chase. However, Harry Brook smashed him for 27 runs in his next over to negate the advantage India had.
Brook made 39 in 15 balls and added 50 runs for the third wicket with Jacob Bethell. Axar Patel bowled a terrific spell, keeping England batters tied, with figures of 1/20 in his four overs. Axar also completed his 100 wickets in T20Is for India.
However, the pressure was released by Ravi Bishnoi, as the leggie was taken apart by Jacob Bethell. Bishnoi was also guilty of bowling back-foot no-balls, and Bethell was severe on pouncing on the free hits.
His most expensive over was his final one, where he went for 3 sixes and one four, giving away 29 runs and finishing with 0/60 in his four overs.
Tom Banton supported Bethell by scoring 39, but it was Bethell who made 76* in 46 balls with 5 fours and 5 sixes and took England past the finish line in 19 overs with 4 wickets to spare. With this win, England went 1-0 up in the five-match series, with three more T20Is to go.
The third T20I will be played in Nottingham on July 7.
The Indian cricket fraternity was all praise for Jacob Bethell’s knock while highlighting how Ravi Bishnoi’s no-ball likely cost India the game.
