Ahead of the second T20i between England and India on July 4, 2026, that will be played in Manchester, India keeper-batter Sanju Samson and 15-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi shared a heart-warming moment.

When discussing Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's skill, Kapil Dev compared him to legends like Virat Kohli and Tendulkar. In actuality, Sooryavanshi's promotion to the starting lineup was accelerated by Sanju Samson's injury.

Before making an incredible deal to join the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the teenager continued to play under Samson's captaincy.

During the practice, Sanju Samson, who is still thought of as Team India's main opening option and has kept Sooryavanshi on the bench since his call-up, was spotted conversing with the young player.

Samson, in a big brotherly fashion, put an arm around the newcomer's shoulders while striking up a conversation with him.

After the first innings of the opening match at the Riverside Ground was abandoned due to rain, the five-match series between India and England remains tied at 0-0.

Because the team management must support the players who recently won the T20 World Cup, Team India's bowling coach Morne Morkel warned that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's wait for an international debut may go on.

It’s not as straightforward as saying, ‘Let’s play him.’ It’s a matter of backing the guys who’ve won World Cups and done really well in tough situations, then building from there and seeing how we can make our top order as strong as possible in these conditions,” Morkel said at the pre-match press conference via PTI.

Calls for Sooryavanshi’s inclusion in India XI have become louder since Sanju Samson has been struggling over the last few games. In his last three matches, the right-handed opener has scored only six runs.
