The first T20I between England and India will be played on July 1 in Chester-Le-Street.
The first T20I of the five-match series between England and India will be played on July 1 at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street. And once again, all the focus is on India’s wonderkid Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
Sooryavanshi was handed his maiden India senior team call-up at the age of 15 after a terrific IPL 2026, where he scored 776 runs with one century and five fifties at a strike rate of 237 with an eye-watering 72 sixes to his name. He won the Orange Cap for most runs, the Emerging Player Award, and the Most Valuable Player Award, among other accolades.
Many thought that Sooryavanshi would make his India debut in the two-T20I series against Ireland, but the Men in Blue trusted in the T20 World Cup 2026 winning combination instead in the batting with Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma opening and Ishan Kishan coming in at no.3.
And now his debut hopes have rekindled as Sooryavanshi was seen hammering the ball in nets with utter confidence and disdain. In order to maintain his composure while he waits for his chance, Sooryavanshi was observed stepping down the track and going for the big hits in addition to making some powerful pull shots and elegant ground strokes.
A spectacular straight drive against his teammate Ravi Bishnoi of the Rajasthan Royals, which had the latter jump out of the way, was one of the highlights.

Sooryavanshi will be the youngest to play for the nation if he is awarded his India cap ahead of the first T20I in Chester-le-Street.
